About The University of Manchester

The University of Manchester is the largest single-site university in the UK and a prestigious member of the Russell Group.

The Challenge

University of Manchester needed a way to understand, measure and act on how their people think and feel in order to improve wellbeing and to drive improvements and tactical actions across the employee journey.

The Solution

We launched an organisation-wide wellbeing pulse alongside surveys at key moments that matter across the employee journey (new joiner, end of first year and leavers).

We delivered onboarding support including data setup, communications, HRBP access and insights reporting.

Key Insights:

  • Population reached: Over 12,000 employees reached over three years of surveying
  • Top themes included: Career mobility and work enablement for leavers, wellbeing and retention signals at the end of first year and joining experience improvements
  • App engagement signals included: 57% of users (HRBPs and assigned managers) using the moments platform within the last 90 days

Work we carried out

  • Set up and launched survey modules
  • Provided onboarding support and survey design

  • Ongoing dashboard set up and review
  • Present wellbeing insights and guided early action planning activities

Outcomes

  • HRBPs and key client contacts across UoM regularly review and act on the feedback left to each of the moments surveys
  • Manager usage enabling tactical action to responses
