Challenge
Torus Housing Group manages and builds social housing in the North West of England. Like many organisations in the sector, it has faced many challenges since we started to work with them including post-merger integration, regulatory changes and significant financial constraints.
“The support we’ve received from the team has been outstanding, responsive, thoughtful, and consistently flexible to meet our evolving needs before, during, and after the survey.

The Challenge
Torus Housing Group manages and builds social housing in the North West of England. Like many organisations in the sector, it has faced many challenges since we started to work with them including post-merger integration, regulatory changes and significant financial constraints.
How it Started
- We started working with Torus in 2022, providing an Annual Px3 Survey, Pulse and Moments (Lifecycle).
- Our first Annual Survey was solid, with 68% participation across a population including many deskless workers
- While overall Engagement was robust (72.5%), people’s intentions to stay were much greater than their willingness to recommend Torus as a place to work.
- Relatively low scores for key ‘think’ drivers (leadership, recognition, processes and cross-team working) and ‘feel’ factors of engagement (enjoyment, growth) highlighted opportunities to improve.
- We facilitated action planning workshops with 75 senior managers, and the exec team.
How it's Going
-
Survey scores improved consistently since 2022
-
Participation increased by over 20% to 82.7%, driven by the efforts of the Torus team, but also by demonstrable action.
-
Engagement outcomes had improved to 77.2%, underpinned by a 17% increase in willingness to recommend Torus.
-
Furthermore, the areas identified in 2022 as in need of focus increased by 20% or more.
-
These improvements have come during periods where there have been substantial, negative pressures on the business.
